Let's Practice Together!

If you are in need of some additional practice for botanical illustration, whether you are just starting out on your journey or a bit more seasoned - please join me for some daily practice...  Using the "Botanical Sketchbook" by Mary Ann Scott as my example, I will start out simple and progress with each project.

April 3, 2018 - A Simple Line Drawing

Your choice of medium, your choice of subject.

You can work from a photo or from real life as I am.  I will say, however, that trying it on your own, with your own subject matter right in front of you, rather than from a photo - is ALWAYS much better and in the long run, will benefit you much more! So that should be your ultimate goal. :)  Also, to begin, please feel free to use any of my Botanical Photography for your subject if you plan to use a photo.

I chose to do my simple line drawing in my nature journal for the month of April.  (visit Making A Nature Journal) - I will be using my 2B Faber-Castell graphite, a divider for measuring, my 2.3mm Mono zero eraser, a Micron 05 black pen, and a Hellebore branch with a flower and some leaves.

Below you can see my work.  To begin I'm keeping it very simple :)

Thank you for visiting and joining me for more practice! Together we can practice, practice, practice, and make some really great art as we get better and better! :)

Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands...
