A Leaf Course, Part 1 - Leaf Library

Drawing And Painting Leaves With Dianne

Leaves are easy for me to draw and tone, but very difficult to paint in watercolor, so I decided to take another course by Dianne Sutherland called "Drawing and Painting Leaves".  It is a great course to keep me practiced up and ready for my upcoming admission into the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh.

This is a post to show you where I am in my study and if you are considering taking a course with Dianne - I highly recommend it.  She is one of the best botanical illustrator teachers I have found online and I have learned so much from her.

For the leaves course I am creating a library of leaves by completing studies on a few I have found around my homestead.  The following is a documentary of my findings and my work in this class. In the baggies that I have attached in my sketchbook are the rubbings I have made, as well as the actual leaf I studied, which I pressed in a book.  I hope you enjoy.

Well, that finishes up the Leaf Library portion of my Leaf Course and now I will begin the Tonal Study portion of this class:  A Leaf Course, Part 1 - Tonal Studies

As I mentioned above, this is a great course by Dianne Sutherland called, "Drawing and Painting Leaves".  I need to complete this course by September since I will begin my Pre-RBGE course at that time and it will be quite time consuming.

Thank you for stopping by.  If you have any questions regarding my studies, art supplies I use, or the process I use for my leaf library, please contact me in the navigation above.

Remember, "Practice Makes Art!" - so practice, practice, practice! :)

Blessings!
