April 6 - Continue With Single Flower Study

We are heading into the normal rains of April, which will result in the flowers of May - But we have also had the rains of March, that have resulted in the flowers of April :)

And today it was too gorgeous outside to not work in my yard and knowing that high winds and rain are on their way for Saturday and Sunday - After lunch with a dear friend, I went out to play!!

But I also got some drawing done after putting together a beautiful "Helleborus" composition that I am very excited about!  Here's some photos:

Now I plan to get a little more familiar with this "Helleborus" or Lenten Rose as I am noticing that this plant has some different leaves on it - Some look almost like a Maple leaf with toothed edges and 5 midribs while others are smooth and oblong with just one midrib.  The stem appears to be round at first, but a closer look reveals that it has two sides to it and is somewhat flattened.

Back to observe a bit more and do some dissecting and then I plan to get on with my composition in graphite on Bristol paper.  I just might get to start that tomorrow - we'll see :)

If you are joining me, I hope you are having as much fun as I am working in graphite. Send me an email and let me know how it's going. I would love to see some photos too.
